DDA System Evaluation and Process Control

The Type 2 Duplex Plate Phantom per E2737 is made in either Aluminum for light metal applications and Stainless Steel for heavy metal applications. The standard ASTM E2737 describes the evaluation of DDA systems for industrial radiology. It is intended to ensure that the evaluation of image quality, as far as this is influenced by the DDA system, meets the needs of users and their customers and enables process control and long term stability of the DDA systems.

Test parameters include kV/mA, focal spot size, pre-filtering, geometric magnification, detector mode, number of image integrations, and exposure time.

These tests are to monitor the system performance for degradation and to identify when action needs to be taken if the system degrades by a certain level - i.e. influenced after repairs, hardware / software upgrades.

 

 

Type 2
Duplex Plate Phantoms with Separate IQIs

Type 2 has the IQI located in the center of the thick plate, which creates low scatter radiation and much lower gradient on the IQI for improved repeatability of contrast sensitivity tests.

Ordering Information

Aluminum is recommended for light metal applications and Stainless Steel is recommended for heavy metal applications. The Type 2 Duplex Plate Phantom includes top and bottom plates with predetermined material and thickness in an enclosed plexiglass housing. Cutouts are included for Plaque Type and Duplex IQI’s. The IQI’s are removable. ASTM-E-1742 Plaque Type IQI’s of like material and thickness are included. Duplex IQI’s must be purchased in addition.
