NDT Systems Scanners for BondHub

NDT Systems Scanners for BondHub

Manual and Automatic Scanners for the BondHub & Bondascope System

Overview

C-Scan image creation is made possible with the combination of the BonHub II, Bondascope 3100, and finally, the appropriate Automatic or Manual Scanner & Probe. With Probe attached, the Scanners function is to serve coordinate input to the BondHub System in a manner that is consistent, repeatable, and accurate. The Manual Scanners offered are the SlideScan & StringScan; its Automatic counterpart is the CrosScan.

Requisite Components for C-Scan Imaging

The Scanner is only one of three components necessary to create C-Scan images. The Bondascope 3100, Bondhub, and Scanner (in this case, the CrosScan Automatic Scanner) work together to create the C-Scan image. The Bondascope 3100 sends live readings from the CrosScan, which traverses the Composite Material, to the Bondhub, where the C-Scan image is created via the CompVu Interface in MIA, Pitch-Catch, or Resonance readings--depending on Probe Type. Probes, Bondascope, and Bondhub must be purchased separately. Click here for purchasing.

Model Features and Applications

  • The StringScan II is a lightweight, manual X-Y Scanner that is used for ultrasonic inspection of flat or curved surfaces. Two spring-loaded encoders, connected to the probe holder with metal wires, triangulate the X-Y Position of the probe. As the operator scans the test part, the C-Scan display is updated in real time.  It is used across many industries including aerospace, oil & gas, and power generation.

  • The SlideScan is a lightweight, manual X-Y Scanner that is used for ultrasonic or phased-array inspection of composite or metal aerospace fuselages, plates, or storage tanks. A pivoting axis design and spring loaded arm for the probe holder help the probe follow the surface. It is used across many industries including aerospace, oil & gas, and power generation. 3 sizes are available defined by the scan area required. **Note that Probe Holders for conventional or PAUT transducers and the 12ft Encoder Cable must be bought separately for this Scanner to be fully ready for C-Scan imaging.

  • The CrosScan is a high precision two-axis automated scanner with the ability to operate on flat or curved surfaces. Typical applications include in-service composite and metal flaw detection or thickness mapping in the aerospace and composites industries. A unique feature of this scanner is that it may be run on batteries or AC current making the CrosScan very portable and easily deployable.

Probe & Bond Test Mode Selection Guides

As noted above, one of the defining features of the Bondascope 3100 is its universal Probe acceptance and automatic recognition. As a result, Probe selection is extensive. Please consult the following Probe Guide when researching and deciding on your probe needs.

Going hand in hand with Probe Selection, deciding on a Bond Test Mode is of equal importance. Consult the Bond Test Selection Guide to supplement your application research.
