Sherwin Post Emulsifiable Fluorescent Penetrants
METHODS B, & D, and C
The following non-water washable penetrants, RC-29, RC-50, RC-65 and RC-77, are approved as Method B with ER-85 Emulsifier, Method D with ER-83A Emulsifier, or as Method C with any approved "cleaner/ remover."
Special Features: Low penetrant consumption due to low viscosity, very good resistance to over washing with ER83 (surface effect), low background and good contrast, flash point above 100°C.
Level 1 |
RC-29 is a level 1, Method B, D non-water washable fluorescent penetrant. RC-29 is a versatile, general purpose penetrant for use on a variety of materials, including aluminum and magnesium. Complies with low sulfur and low halogen requirements.

Emulsifiers |
ER-85 is a lipophilic emulsifier used in the inspection penetrant process to remove excess surface penetrant. ER-85 is a Method B emulsifier. It does not require a pre wash step and is used at full strength. It meets the requirements for low sulfur, low halogen, and low-sodium.

ER-83A is a hydrophilic emulsifier used diluted with water to emulsify Sherwin’s non-water washable penetrants. ER-83A removes surface, non-water washable penetrants by spray or immersion. It complies with low sulfur, low halogen, and low-sodium requirements.
