Waveform Display in under a Millisecond

The MP-4000 is a professional grade gauss meter capable of measuring DC, AC, and Pulse Fields utilizing external probes that must be purchased separately. It has a maximum field strength of 40,000 A/cm. Perhaps the most outstanding probe feature is it displays waveforms in 0.1 milliseconds using the trigger measurement function and displays this information in graph form. Additionally, stable DC fields can be detected by area, which can be statistically evaluated, via the scan measurement function. All data is recorded and can be sent to an iOS or Android device via Bluetooth or communicated directly to a Windows PC through USB connection. The MP-4000s precision and probe-modularity make it suitable for nearly all low frequency magnetic field testing.

What are the differences between Axial and Transversal Probes?

The Axial probe measures in the same direction of the probe. Transversal probes measure at an angle of 90° to the probe. The Transversal probe is the more universal of the two probe types because practically all measurements of the axial probe can be carried out transversally. However, the Axial probe has an edge over the Transversal probe in its 2mm distance between Hall sensor and probe cap. This is advantageous in situations such as ball bearing production, where probe distance to the Hall sensor has become the standard. As it stands, the transversal probe will suit most needs but the user should consider the material and industry standards when deciding between Axial and Transversal Probes.

Axial Field Probe PM2-A

The axial field probe measures the field along the longitudinal axis of the probe and is suitable for measuring on planar or curved surfaces and particularly in bores. The hall sensor in the axial probe is placed at a precise distance of 2 mm to the surface.

Transversal Field Probe PM2-T

The tangential field probe measures the field in a 90 degree angle to the axis of the probe and is suitable for measuring in air gaps, hollow spaces or on the surface of workpieces (e.g. for crack testing).

Transversal Flexible Reed Probe PM2-TR

The transversal reed probe measures the field in a 90 degree angle to the axis of the probe. It is flexible by approx. 5 degrees and is suitable for measuring in air gaps, hollow spaces or on the surface of workpieces (e.g. for crack testing).

Scan and Trigger Measurements

  • The Scan Measurement functionality provides a graphical curve of the magnetic field. This is achieved by generating a continuous reading of the magnetic field that is being observed. The graphical curve is bounded by the minimum and maximum values of the magnetic field and offers statistical evolutions.  

 

  • The Trigger Measurement functionality captures and stores the peak value of a magnetic field pulse. This measurement can make an exact recording of the measured values in a matter of milliseconds. 

Manage and send Measurement Data with free Software

The MP-4000 packages comes with a free data management software. Access the MP-4000s data on your Windows PC through USB connection, or over Bluetooth on your iOS or Android device via Lima Connect. Lima allows you to manage projects, assign measuring points, display graphical readings, and more.
