Woodpecker WP-632AM Automatic Tap Tester with Optional XY Plotter
The Woodpecker WP-632AM combines both the WP-623 Handpiece and WP-632M Monitor into one unit making it a more powerful tool than previous models.
Traditionally, coin tapping has been used to detect disbonds on structurally bonded materials. Conventional manual tapping methods require a high-level of skill that takes a long time to acquire, relying on human senses, making it difficult to inspect in a noisy environment and impossible to obtain continuous accuracy over long periods. The fundamental problem with this method is that it is not quantitative. The Woodpecker WP-632AM portable electric tap tester solves this problem.
The WP-632AM utilizes a central processing unit (CPU) which comparatively evaluates the output of a force sensor attached to the actuator. The quantified inspection results are indicated with LEDs & numerical values displayed on the LCD screen. Having an LCD display built into the Handpiece clearly shows the set and measured contact times (in milliseconds), making it easier to setup on the test standard. The unit data-logs points giving it a record / history that can be saved, creating traceability of a scan. The WP-632AM also allows the transfer of inspected results to a computer for detailed analysis and recording.
The XY Plotter is available as an option for the Woodpecker WP-632AM Handpiece. It allows the user to measure contact time (in milliseconds) of the structure being tested and displays the position of the unit on a PC (as a color tile map or numerically) if used in real time. This record can be saved and printed creating traceability of a scan.
The WP-632AM is compact & lightweight, allowing single handed operation, significantly reducing time required for inspection with high accuracy. It has been recognized as authorized NDT equipment by: Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier Aerospace, Augusta / Westland's & others. It is codified with the NATO Stock Number: 6635-99-282-4319.
