XEO Phased Array Instrument

XEO Phased Array Instrument

Portable Phased Array Ultrasonic Flaw Detector with TFM/TFMi and TOFD

Overview

The Sonatest XEO is a high-performance portable phased array ultrasonic instrument that combines Phased Array (PAUT), TFM/TFMi, and TOFD inspection techniques in a single rugged platform. Built on Linux KDE Plasma OS with a 1920 x 1080 touchscreen, 32 GB RAM, and a 500 GB industrial-grade SSD, the XEO delivers the true power of a high-end system in a portable instrument. Its interchangeable mini-dock architecture lets inspectors reconfigure for different applications, while a Remote API provides full access to parameters and the datastream for AI integration and system automation. The open .ONDE data file format and native support for complementary techniques in a single configuration make the XEO suitable for the most demanding NDT inspections.

Features

  • Runs up to 10 PAUT, 8 TFM/TFMi, and 4 TOFD scans simultaneously in a single configuration
  • 64:128PR phased array architecture (32:128PR optional) with up to 128-element TFM capability and 16 TFM algorithms
  • True 3D ray tracing and live geometry rendering for flat, curved, pipeline, T-joint, and corner-joint parts
  • Open .ONDE data file format with Remote API for AI integration, automation, and full datastream access
  • Interchangeable mini-dock options — IX 128-channel or Dual IX 64:64-channel with 6 or 8 LEMO 00 UT connectors
  • Rugged IP65-certified housing, MIL-STD 810H vibration tested, with two hot-swappable batteries for > 5 hour operating time

Applications

  • Weld inspection on flat, curved, pipeline, T-joint, and corner-joint geometries
  • Phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) with sectorial and linear scanning across complex part geometries
  • Total Focusing Method (TFM/TFMi) inspection for high-fidelity defect characterization on flat and curved parts
  • TOFD inspection for critical weld integrity and crack sizing
  • Multi-technique inspection (PAUT + TFM + TOFD) in a single scan for complete coverage
  • Automated and semi-automated inspection via Remote API and system integration

Software

The Sonatest XEO is available in two base configurations: the all-inclusive XEO 64:128 and the modular XEO 32:128 — a build-your-own instrument base that lets you add only the software options you need. All XEO instruments run on Linux KDE Plasma with the open .ONDE data file format, a Remote API for full parameter and datastream access, 3D ray tracing, and native support for Phased Array, TFM/TFMi, and TOFD techniques in a single configuration.
