Overview

The PH Tool Corrosion Ultrasonic Test Board (CUT Board) is a Performance Demonstration and Training Tool used to train personnel, qualify inspectors, or demonstrate UT thickness ability of your conventional or PAUT instrument. Each CUT Board is meticulously designed and machined to replicate flaws and corrosion typically found in UT inspections for optimal training.

  • Proprietary Corrosion Simulation
    A unique, CNC-milled, and abrasively finished pattern replicates artificial corrosion with remarkable realism. This proprietary process ensures users encounter lifelike conditions for an accurate representation of real-world challenges.
  • Precision Grid for Easy Navigation
    The scanning surface is equipped with a machine-engraved grid of letters and numbers, allowing users to quickly isolate and identify features in the corrosion pattern. The low point of corrosion is carefully positioned to fall within a single grid cell for clarity and accuracy. This means there is only one correct answer as to where the point of deepest corrosion lies.
  • Integrated Step Block
    An embedded step block provides thickness ranges of .075", .150", .225", .300", and .375", with dual-unit engravings in inches and millimeters. This addition allows for thorough calibration and accurate measurements during training.
  • Cloaking Plate for Blind Testing
    A removable cloaking plate can be applied to the back of the board, concealing the corrosion pattern to facilitate unbiased training or personnel qualification tests. For added anonymity, the plate hides a laser-engraved QR code containing the board’s serial number and identification information.
  • Optimized for Stability and Transport
    Designed for practicality, the "CUT" Board includes a machined carrying handle for effortless transport and rubberized feet in each corner to ensure stability during use.  A custom-fitted Pelican Case is also available to keep your investment protected. 
  • Compatibility with Industry-Leading Scanners
    Fully optimized for use with the Olympus Hydroform Scanner, the "CUT" Board is a seamless addition to any testing environment, delivering unmatched compatibility and ease of use.

The low point of corrosion is strategically placed within a single grid cell for maximum clarity. This means there is only one correct answer for each board as to where the deepest corrosion lies.

  • Corrosion Feature Side (bottom image)

An intricate corrosion simulation concealed by a custom “cloaking plate,” creating a blind testing environment. This ensures that trainees and inspectors rely on their skills and instruments, not visual cues, to detect and evaluate corrosion.

Mini CUT Board

The "CUT" Board Mini is designed to meet the needs of training programs, inspector qualification, and instrument demonstrations without compromising on functionality or accuracy. It provides a realistic, versatile testing environment while being easy to handle and transport.

It is optimal for smaller probes and tighter workspaces.

  • Like all PH Tool products, every CUT Board comes with a detailed, NIST-traceable Certification Report. This report includes the pattern name, unique serial number, as-built step thicknesses, actual remaining thickness of the "low spot" in the corrosion pattern, the location of the low spot within the grid, professional CAD drawing, Material Test Report, and PMI Test Report for material traceability.
