Plant based, low toxicity, biodegradable couplant in three viscosities with a broad high to low operating range.
- High temperature couplng for flaw inspection and thickness gauging
- Ambient and low temperature coupling where corrosion inhibition is critical.
Instantaneous ultrasonic response (does not contain plastic powders which delay ultrasonic conduction). Excellent Corrosion Inhibitor. Provides non-toxic, superior, long term corrosion inhibition for steel and cast iron and is compatible with other metals and most plastics. VersaSonic may be left in place unless it will interfere with subsequent manufacturing operations such as painting or electroplating. Low smoke and odor at elevated temperature. No plastic powder char remaining after inspection. Low environmental impact. Contains no perflourocarbons, silicones, peanut or tree oils. | HV: High Viscosity - remains in place on surfaces and transducers - 80.54 Pa.s. at a shear rate of 2.9 seconds.
MV: Medium Viscosity - spreadable, can be brushed onto surfaces - 29.25 Pa.s. at a shear rate of 2.25 seconds.
F: Fluid Viscosity - can be pumped in automated systems or squirted from bottles - 760 cps Brookfield Auto Ignition (Cleveland): ASTM E-659: 788°(420°C) under closed conditions with sustained temperature. Operating Range: -10° to 700°F (-23° to 371°C). VersaSonic successfully performs in excess of 700°F (398°C). Typical UT flaw and thickness applications use thin couplant films in an open environment where the small amount of gas formed can dissipate quickly. If fire (auto ignition) is of concern, VersaSonic should not be used above 700°F (371°C) and instead EchoTherm or EchoTherm Extreme should be used. Safety: Not hazardous by OSHA HazCom 2012 Criteria. Halogens and Sulfar: Less than 50 ppm V1 = 0.15/µs, Z = 1.48/cm2 - sec x 105
Packaging: 2 oz. tubes, 4 oz. tubes, 1 quart, 1 gallon and 5 gallon containers.
