Measuring Hot Materials

  • Dakota offers two probes that are temperature-stable, meaning that measurements will not drift as the probe heats up. With proper couplant and technique, these probes can measure materials up to 900­°F (482°C).
  • The 5 MHz 1/4" UT-DU-T-212-2001 probe is used for general purposes.
  • The 5 MHz 1/2" UT-DU-T-214-2001 probe is used when more power is required for thicker and more attenuative material.

Mid Range Probes

These probes come in 2 designations, mid range and high temperature. Mid Range probes are an older design. Elongated probe housing allows measuring through holes cut in insulation. The delay-lines used are not temperature stable as the newer high temperature probes are. When using Mid Range probes you must quickly get your measurement and then allow the probe to cool off (typically dipping in water). Measurements will grow as the delay-lines heat up.

5.0 MHz Dual Element Transducers

Recommended for high temperature thickness gauging. Note: Only the T-212-2001 and the T-214-2001 are temperature stable.
