High Damped Thickness Gauging Probes for both Pulse Echo & Echo-Echo Measurements

HD - High Damped Probes have better multiple-echoes for Thru-Coating measurements. HD probes are required for Echo-Echo Thru-Coating Measurements with ZX-6/ZX-6DL, MMX-7 & MVX and can be used in Pulse Echo (P.E.) mode with all Dakota Corrosion Gauges and in Echo-Echo (E.E mode) on the above listed gauges as well as the CT series. 

Echo-Echo Mode

For Thru-Coating Thickness Gauging

  • For Dakota's Thru-Coating gauges using Echo-Echo mode, such as the ZX-6, MMX-6 and MVX, HD (High Damped) probes are needed.
  • The 5MHz ¼” UT-DU-T-102-2700 is used most frequently
  • The 5 MHz 3/16” UT-DU-T-101-2700 is used on small diameter tubes
  • The 7.5 MHZ, 3/16” High Damped UT-DU-T-101-3000 is suggested if high resolution is needed to measure thinner material and find smaller pits
  • The 3.5 MHz ½” UT-DU-T-104-9700 is suggested for thicker materials

Note: The Potted and Microdot versions can be either "Top" or "Side" entry configurations. The Lemo connectors are only available in 1/2" transducer configuration, due to space requirements. 

3.5 MHz Dual Element Transducers

3.5 MHz x 1/2" dual element transducers are recommended for measuring through thick coatings on tanks, pipes and vessels.

5.0 MHz Dual Element Transducers

5 MHz is the most commonly used thickness gauging frequency. Go to a lower frequency for greater penetration and less noise on grainy materials and step up frequency for higher resolution and thinner materials.
