Overview

The nanoXspot is a Focal Spot Gauge that measures below 100 µm. It determines the focal spot size, shape, and position of nanometer resolution X-Ray Tubes. The nanoXspot was developed to address the demand for consistent microscale measurements in the X-Ray equipment manufacturing.

Applications

The nanoXspot gauge is for evaluating focal spot sizes and shapes for quality assurance in radiographic manufacturing. Applications include: 

  • Measurement and characterization of focal spot size, shape, and position of micro- and nanofocus X-ray tubes (100 nm to 5 μm)
  • Quality control and performance verification of X-ray tubes used in industrial computed tomography (CT) systems
  • Reconstruction of focal spot intensity distributions via filtered back projection from hole edges or converging line group patterns
  • Evaluation of edge spread functions, line spread functions, and modulation transfer functions for imaging system assessment
  • Validation of X-ray imaging system resolution for high-precision testing
