Separation Dynamics - NDT / FPI Wastewater Systems

Separation Dynamics - NDT / FPI Wastewater Systems

Oil Fouling Resistant 10 - 12,000 GPD Waste Water System Designed For Separating Emulsified Penetrant Oil

Inspect Parts with Less Wastewater

Penetrant inspection (FPI/NDI) lines can generate many gallons of regulated wastewater every day — a mix of penetrant chemistry, emulsifiers, and rinse water that should not simply go down the drain. At costs that can range from $1.00–$3.00 per gallon for hauling and offsite disposal, a facility running 30 GPD pays $21,000–$42,000 per year - before any disposal fees or fines. SEPARATION DYNAMICS builds the system that can drop your ongoing wastewater cost by 95% or more.

95%+ Waste Reduction

Dramatically cut disposal costs and hauling fees

No Chemical Cleaning

Swap filters in minutes — no downtime, no extra waste

12–18 Month Payback

Documented ROI — after payback, every year is pure savings

The EXTRAN™ Technology

Most Membrane Systems Were Not Designed for Penetrant Wastewater. EXTRAN™ Was.

EXTRAN™ uses a proprietary regenerated cellulose hollow fiber membrane — the only membrane purpose-built for the oil-emulsion chemistry of penetrant inspection wastewater. Unlike conventional polymer UF systems or ceramic membranes that foul rapidly in oil-laden water, EXTRAN™ resists oil fouling by design. After a long period in operation, when flow eventually declines the modules are simply replaced in minutes. No chemicals. No cleaning protocol. No additional waste stream.

Features

  • No membrane cleaning — ever. The #1 maintenance burden of competing systems is eliminated entirely.
  • Low operating costs – EXTRAN™ system uses minimal consumables and very little energy.
  • Compatible with all penetrant types — water-washable (Method A) AND post-emulsifiable (Method B & D). EXTRAN™ does not restrict your NDT process chemistry.
  • Two-stage treatment: EXTRAN™ UF removes 99%+ of oil load, then activated carbon polishes residual organics — dramatically extending carbon life versus carbon-only systems.
  • Low risk, fail-safe carbon polishing configuration — canisters plumbed in series for redundancy.
  • Closed-loop recycling configurations include UV sterilization, ozone, chillers, automatic freshwater make-up, and re-pressurization pump.
  • 40 years of successful wastewater installations - proven with Magnaflux, Sherwin, Ardrox, and other major penetrant brands.

Process Steps (How It Works)

1

Tell us about your process

A brief conversation or complete our process questionnaire. We ask about your penetrant chemistry, daily volume, rinse method, and discharge or re-use goals. No sample required – in most cases we already have the data.

2

We match you to existing data

We have run every major penetrant chemistry in use today — Magnaflux, Sherwin, Ardrox, Turboline, and others — and have analytical lab data on the results. In the vast majority of cases, we can show you performance data on water just like yours before you commit to anything.

3

You get a right-sized proposal

You receive a detailed proposal with your system recommendation, operating costs, annual savings, and a documented payback period specific to your facility's volume and current disposal costs. If your process is unusual or you want validation on your specific water, we'll run your sample free of charge — but for most operations, we already have what we need.

Compliance is handled. The hauling truck stops coming. The system runs with minimal operator input. The NDT team just does NDT.
Need more certainty? We'll run your specific wastewater sample at no charge and provide third-party analytical results before you make any commitment.Click here to submit an inquiry

ROI Examples

Most SEPARATION DYNAMICS customers recover their full investment within 12–18 months, based entirely on substantial hauling and disposal cost savings. The figures below are drawn from actual operating cost analysis — not estimates. After payback, the savings continue indefinitely.

System System Price Annual Savings Payback Period 5-Year Net Savings
EUS-M (15 GPD) $25,000 $18,500 / yr ~16 months $67,000
EUS-E (30 GPD) $40,000 $38,700 / yr ~12 months $154,000
EUS-I (120 GPD) $75,000 $50,200 / yr ~18 months $176,000

* Based on disposal costs of $1.00–$3.00/gallon. Actual savings depend on your current hauling rates and daily volume. Contact SDI to model your specific operation.

After payback, annual savings continue indefinitely. At $1.00–$3.00 per gallon for hauling, the math is straightforward. A facility running 75 GPD is spending $41,000–$82,000 per year before any disposal fees, fines or rate increases — all costs that will drop dramatically the day the system is commissioned.

Savings calculations are based on documented operating cost data. Results vary by facility volume, current disposal rates, and local regulatory requirements. Contact Separation Dynamics for a facility-specific analysis.
