NDT Systems Curlin Air Composite Bond Tester

NDT Systems Curlin Air Composite Bond Tester

Non-Contact, Air-Coupled Ultrasonic Flaw Detection

Overview

The portable Curlin Air utilizes air-coupled ultrasonics and requires no surface preparation or direct contact with the test object. The very low transducer frequency of 50 kHz allows penetration and thus inspection of highly attenuative materials, which cannot be inspected with traditional ultrasonic equipment. It performs sensitive inspections to detect voids, impact damage, and disbonds in a wide variety of non water-compatible materials. Further, the instrument can penetrate up to 6 inches (150mm) of foam, honeycomb, wood or other materials with a high air/volume ratio and can detect potential anomalies. Originally used primarily for aerospace composites, It has since evolved to evaluate a diverse range of materials including propellants, wood and foam panels.
