The LP-5C Cable Type Low Profile Yoke lifts over 50 Pounds, weighs only 21 oz. (490g), and is only 3.25" (8cm) high. The cable allows positioning of the Pole Pieces for complex geometries, and ensures that the inspector keeps the spacing under 6” (15cm), which is required specifications. The LP-5C is designed so that you can achieve easier and more reliable contact to provide stress crack detection in any direction and can test for stress fractures in metal without needing an electric power source.
When doing inspections, you can use the LP-5C with either the Dry Method or Wet Method to accurately see any stress fractures or cracks. The flex cable gives flexibility of the pole pieces for complex geometries. The Pole Pieces should be positioned, so that as much of their contact surfaces are on the work piece. The LP-5C’s poles are rotated to maintain the pole spacings. The inspector can space the poles from 1¾" to 6". Magnetic particles are applied. Dry Method Particles are dusted between the Pole Pieces and over the target area, while Wet Method Particles are sprayed in a similar manner. To remove the Yoke, rock the Poles so they are slightly angled against the workpiece, diminishing the lifting power, so it can be easily removed with a gentle pull.
