The system operates semi-automatically. The novel part of the test system is a gear motor driven turntable on which four part specific fixtures are mounted. Replaceable part fixtures allow for a fast and cost effective solution. For new parts, only four fixtures, which are coded, have to be replaced.

The operator manually loads the test part into the fixture (station 1). The rotation of the test part is initiated by a push button on the control panel. The index table turns 90° and moves the test specimen to the testing position (station 2). The previously tested part is then moved into the waiting position. The final station is the inspection station. In this position the test part is lifted pnematically by pressing a button. The test fixture is able to be rotated on its axis for a complete inspection.

By means of a key switch, the machine setter can switch the system to single test or automatic mode. Different products can be selected by the display and control unit of the PLC. The changeover to a different type requires intervention in the system, which can be carried out by a machine setter with appropriate training.

Magnetizing units are mounted on linear ball bearing carriages and position adjustment is easily made by ball screw.
