BN Rollscan 350

BN Rollscan 350

Analog Barkhausen Noise Signal Analyzer Designed For Manual and Automated Systems

Overview

The Barkhausen Noise Rollscan 350 is a portable digital Barkhausen noise analyzer with advanced capabilities for on-site quality control and detection of near-surface defects — grinding burns, heat treatment issues, and stress or microstructure changes in ferritic steels and other ferromagnetic materials. A graphical user interface with oscilloscope display and front-panel controls provides real-time measurement diagnostics, with measurement parameters adjustable directly on the unit or remotely via PC software. The Rollscan 350 can be used as a stand-alone unit or integrated into automated production and laboratory setups.

  • Digital Barkhausen noise analyzer with graphical user interface and oscilloscope display for real-time measurement diagnostics
  • Front-panel control via six function keys and a push-button control wheel; setup pages for magnetization, measurement, communication, miscellaneous functions, and diagnostics
  • Automatic magnetizing voltage and frequency sweeps to find optimal measurement parameters
  • Magnetizing frequency ranges (sine wave 1–1000 Hz, triangle wave 1–150 Hz) and three selectable analyzing filter ranges (10–70 kHz, 70–200 kHz, 200–450 kHz)
  • Single measurement channel with digital and analog I/O; connector for auxiliary devices; batteries optional

Applications

For testing near-surface defects such as grinding burns, heat treatment defects, as well as changes in stress and microstructure in ferritic steels and other ferromagnetic materials. Applications include:

  • Camshafts, crankshafts, gears, bearings, landing gear components, and grooves/holes
  • Machining processes – grinding, turning, milling
  • Cold working processes – shot peening, laser peening, autofrettage
  • Surface hardening processes – carburizing, nitriding, induction hardening
  • Dynamic processes such as creep and fatigue monitoring

Analysis

Optimize your manufacturing process and deliver the highest quality components by pairing the Rollscan 350 with Stresstech analysis software. The Rollscan 350 can be completed with either ViewScan for data analysis and reporting, or MicroScan for advanced material analysis and R&D.

ViewScan — Data Analysis & Reporting

The Rollscan 350 can be completed with ViewScan software for data analyzing and reporting. Using ViewScan you can:

  • Collect and analyze data from the Rollscan
  • Document measurements by saving and printing the results
  • Export data for analysis with other programs
  • Set rejection limits for real-time rejection checking
  • Collect data from multiple Rollscan analyzers simultaneously
  • View results as a 3-dimensional polysurface

MicroScan — Material Analysis

The Rollscan 350 can be completed with MicroScan software for material analysis. The system provides analysis of data with a freely adjustable analyzing frequency filter (RMS, peak value, peak position, FWHM, amplitude spectrum, integral of the bursts, pulse height distribution). Using MicroScan you can:

  • Study magnetic properties of the material
  • Develop new NDT applications
  • Evaluate stress and microstructure changes using several functions and parameters
  • Optimize measurement conditions for the analysis
